Your Parliamentary Candidate for Kingston & Surbiton: Chris Walker

Chris Walker is a local resident who believes that there is a lack of political leadership at a time when we most need it. The financial crisis, unemployment and climate change demanded a brave response and what did we get? More debt, more unemployment and no agreement on climate change. Add that to a political system with very little credibility following the expenses scandal and the case for change becomes very strong.

With no real difference between the Tories, Labour and the Lib Dems, it's difficult not to get very disheartened about the state of British politics. But then you read the Green Party's Manifesto for a Sustainable Society and realise that there is another way and a coherent set of policies which actually just sound like common sense...

- A new financial architecture making sure banks are not 'too big to fail' and serve local communities.

- A proper system to clamp down on tax avoidance.

- Free social care for the elderly.

- Renewable energy production creating 200,000 new jobs as part of a 'Green New Deal' and energy efficency measures for homes, schools and hospitals creating a further 80,000 jobs.
